In 2025 we attended the country fair at Burleigh House and watched an event called Horseboarding. This involved a horse and a rider pulling a mountainborder around a figure of eight course with a chicane and weave poles at around 25 mph.The course is about 1km in total and the quickest time wins the day.

My wife has always ridden horses and this was an opportunity for us to compete in an equine event together. All we needed was a horse, a mountain board and a lot of practice And training.

In 2026 we brought Elvie a palomino mere who was 2years old and a MBS fat face mountain board from eBay with some pads and crash hat And a crazy plan was hatched. I spend time on my board practicing downhill, runs heel and toe turns, improving balance and building confidence and with the help of Nina at Bugsboarding in Gloucester and an upgrade of my board to a Tramp ltd, things started to improve.

At the same time my wife and daughter have started the groundwork with Elvie including walks out, lunging, confidence building, visual distractions and a very cool handshake Elvie is progressing well and will eventually be ready for action.

We continue to practice and train, downhill mountain boarding has become a great pass time spending time boarding, filming and blogging my progression for Facebook, instagram, Tic Tok and you tube all this can be followed on mountain boarding with VR. (#Mbvr)
